No team in the NRL will be under more pressure to produce after the once-proud Broncos’ season from hell in 2020.
RECRUITMENT: John Asiata is a handy gain from the Cowboys but the club has only signed one other experienced player, centre/winger Dale Copley.
Plenty of experience has gone with Jack Bird (Dragons), Darius Boyd (retired), David Fifita (Titans) and Joe Ofahengaue (Tigers) all leaving.
STRENGTHS: A big, mobile pack capable of steamrolling rival teams if they don’t come ready to play.
WEAKNESSES: Lack of class and experience in the halves – which was the Broncos’ strength for so long during the club’s golden days.
MAN UNDER PRESSURE: Anthony Milford went missing more than once last season when the team really needed him but the Broncos have shown faith in the classy utility, extending his deal. He will need to repay the club big time.
ONE TO WATCH: Thomas Flegler is still only 21 but is establishing himself as a leader in the demanding front-row position for the Broncos. He looks primed for a big year.
WHAT THE BOOKIES SAY: To win comp $41, to make finals $3.68 (via Sportsbet)
WHAT MOLEY SAYS: Surely the Broncos won’t serve up the rubbish they produced in 2020 for their fans again this year – with their young team that little more experienced, expect a finish around 12th to 14th.
