Marnus Labuschagne bizarre appeal cricket video Australia v India

Australian cricket great Mark Waugh has described Marnus Labuschagne’s bizarre day three inquiry as “the worst appeal I’ve ever heard” as he and his Fox Cricket colleagues erupted in laughter.

The eccentric Labuschagne was standing under the helmet at short leg in the 62nd over as India’s Washington Sundar swayed out of the way of a Josh Hazlewood short ball.

“How was that?!” Labuschagne cried as his teammates remained silent.

“I’m not quite sure what that is from Marnus Labuschagne,” Adam Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket.

Marnus bags a ton

“There was no-one else interested in the stadium.

“Let’s see what Marnus was thinking, what planet he was on?”

Labuschagne – who scored a century in the first innings of the fourth Test in Brisbane – is a notoriously enthusiastic appealer, but this was next level.

After watching some replays, a chuckling Waugh declared “that is the worst appeal I’ve ever heard.”

“What’s he doing?

“Do you think he was having a bad dream or something?

“It’s like the bloke in the car at park cricket, yelling out: ‘how’s that you mug,’ when they drive past.

“He’s a bit keen and green.”

Brett Lee found the whole thing equally amusing.

“He’s still bemused, look,” Lee said.

“What’s he appealing for?

“It’s like going to a fancy dress party and no-one’s told you.”
