Jason Taumalolo suffers hand injury, to miss even more time, North Queensland

Cowboys superstar Jason Taumalolo will miss even more NRL action this season after suffering another hand injury.

Taumalolo is expected to be sidelined between 1-3 weeks after fracturing the opposite hand to the one he injured back in March, with that previous injury forcing him to miss every game since Round 1.

The latest injury setback for the 27-year-old occurred during a Cowboys’ training session, according to a club statement.

“North Queensland Toyota Cowboys captain Jason Taumalolo is facing a fresh stint on the sideline after fracturing the opposite hand to the one he injured in March,” the statement read.

“Taumalolo suffered the injury at training and is expected to be sidelined between 1-3 weeks.”

Lachlan Burr will now replace Taumalolo at lock for the Cowboys’ clash with the Bulldogs on Sunday.

The setback for Taumalolo is a brutal blow for the Cowboys, who currently sit 15th on the ladder with just one win to their name.

North Queensland earlier this month also parted ways with club champion Michael Morgan after the playmaker was forced into retirement due to a shoulder injury.
