Just 25 deliveries faced this morning for India which saw them register 11 runs for the loss of four wickets. Just desperately disappointing stuff.
Indian coach Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli cannot be too impressed by some of the shots played by the lower order out there today.
After the top order fought so hard throughout the first two sessions yesterday, this was a stark contrast.
Ashwin fell first, and in his defence, he copped a good delivery from Pat Cummins. However, after that there were an array of extremely disappointing shots from Saha, Yadav and Shami who was the last wicket to fall.
In the end, India manages just 244 after being 3-188 at one stage before Kohli was run out last night. The final seven wickets fall for 56 runs.
Mitchell Starc finishes with impressive figures of 4-53 off his 21 overs after adding two wickets to his overnight tally and he is pretty happy with the team’s bowling efforts.
“Speaking last night, it was a pretty disciplined performance from the group,” he tells Fox Cricket.
“It’s a tad on the slow side, the wicket, and the blustery conditions probably didn’t produce as much swing as we liked.
“To get a few late ones last night we knew we had to start well again today and that’s probably as good as you could have planned it in terms of execution.”
