Australia India Test series SCG Marnus Labuschagne Shubman Gill Rohit Sharma

Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne had every reason to be chirpy after crafting 92 runs in the first innings of the Sydney Cricket Ground Test – and the Indians became his toy once he was buzzing about in the field.

The eccentric first drop made the most of being under the lid at short leg, peppering opening batsmen Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma with sledges that had the Fox Cricket commentary panel in stitches.

“Who’s your favourite player?” Labuschagne said repeatedly to Gill.

“I’ll tell you later,” the Indian young gun said.

Not satisfied with the size of the bite, Labuschagne prodded, suggesting former India batting god Sachin Tendulkar and modern-day India maestro Virat Kohli.

But Gill remained coy, channeling his focus toward his watchful innings of 50.

Labuschagne then had the courage to taunt a superstar batsman with 364 international matches beside his name.

“What did you do in quarantine?” Labuschagne said to Sharma.

But Sharma refused to buy into the fun and games.
